Dr. Anna Karakatsouli holds the position of Professor of European History and Culture within the Department of Theatre Studies at the University of Athens. Her academic background includes extensive study in History at institutions in Athens, Strasbourg, and Paris. Her professional experience encompasses serving as an Expert Associate for the UNESCO project on the new edition of the History of Humankind based in Paris and as Vice-director at the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation in Athens. Dr. Karakatsouli's research areas include Intellectual History, Colonialism, Book History, and the ascension of the Far Right. Her latest scholarly work critically analyzes the publishing activities of far-right and extremist entities in Greece post-1974. Furthermore, her latest works adopt a transnational view of the Greek War of Independence, placing it in the wider context of global revolutionary movements of the 1820s, and include a historical analysis of the Hestia booksellers and publishers spanning from 1885 to 2010. Dr. Karakatsouli has made significant contributions as an editor and translator of various scholarly volumes and has linguistic proficiency in English, French, German, and Russian.
